Biography
Vasiliki completed her BSc in Marine Sciences and her MSc in Integrated Coastal Management in the University of the Aegean. Her research there included marine geomorphology and habitat mapping, coastal erosion and anthropogenic pressures.
Her Erasmus+ internship in the University of Barcelona focused on palaeoceanographic changes in the North Aegean Sea since the last deglaciation and shaped her interests in palaeoenvironment reconstructions, sedimentology and geochemistry.
She joined the research group in September 2025 carrying out a MRes investigating the Late Glacial Celtic Deep Sea environment. She currently works with seismic stratigraphy and sediment cores in order to reconstruct the palaeoenvironment of the area and better understand the retreat and effects of the Irish Sea Ice Stream.
Research Interests
Palaeoenvironment reconstructions, palaeoceanography, seismic stratigraphy, hydroacoustics, sedimentology, geomorphology, habitat mapping
