Bea was awarded the President's Prize at PalAss 2024 in Erlangen for Best Talk for: "Understanding activity patterns in ancient birds and mammals using eye melanosomes".

Huge congratulations to Daniel Falk, who successfully defended his PhD to a panel of expert examiners in October!

Valentina was awarded the Charlemont Grant from the Royal Irish Academy. The Charlemont Grant is aimed at starting new collaborations allowing the applicant to travel to visit the institution/colleague.

Bea recently received her first ever science award! She received the Everett Lindsay Paleomammalogy Award from the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, which was created to fund field or laboratory research into the evolution of mammals. 

University College Cork’s science education programme Ireland’s Fossil Heritage is inviting people across Ireland to photograph fossils , to be in with a chance of winning up to €400!

Applications are invited for TWO Research Assistant positions funded by the European Research Council.

This is the highest honour awarded to academics in Ireland and recognises exceptional contributions to the sciences and humanities.

This paper presents the first fossil evidence that the feathered dinosaur Psittacosaurus, and probably other early feathered animals, had scaly reptile-type skin in naked regions and bird-like skin in feathered regions.
