About

In 2026, University College Cork holds its forty-fourth International Summer School in Irish Studies from 29 June to 24 July, introducing students from across the world to Irish history and culture. For the month of July, we will explore Ireland’s past and its rich cultural patrimony that forged Irish identity and how that distinctive identity inspired modern artists and writers. This cultural renaissance – the Celtic Revival – heralded the profound political changes in modern times, and the quest for independence. These themes will be explored in lectures, seminars, and in a series of field trips, delivered by leading experts. Students can also opt to take an introductory course to the Irish language.

The Summer School in Irish Studies in UCC aims to provide a unique learning experience by combining a rigorous introduction to major academic themes in the development of Irish identity with an opportunity to encounter Ireland’s rich cultural landscape.
