Babies with learning difficulties could soon be assessed in just 20 minutes using gaming technology developed by a Cork brother and sister. 

Experts from University College Cork's Infant research centre have teamed up with global gaming company, Hello Games, developers of the No Man’s Sky game, to create an app that allows young children with learning difficulties to participate in a non-verbal assessment process.

A Cork start-up incubation programme has announced that four of its tech start-ups are currently hiring.

Trustap, Ecanvasser, LegitFit and Peckish all emerged from the Ignite programme at University College Cork (UCC).

The Ignite programme has supported more than 150 graduate founders since 2011 and is open to recent graduates from any third-level institution in Ireland.

The programme is now looking for entrepreneurs to join the next programme, starting in autumn 2021.

Having emerged from the programme, the four start-ups below are hiring for a variety of roles including sales, marketing, business development, software and customer service.

The business and startup community is leading the charge in the ways in which we manufacture and produce goods and services in an effort to mitigate against the global challenge of climate change.

Over the past eight years, GatewayUCC supported companies have raised over €50m of public and private investment, and supported over 60 start-ups and pre startups based on Intellectual property from the university.

GatewayUCC, part of UCC Innovation, has announced that the companies it has worked with and supported since 2012 have created more than 400 jobs. GatewayUCC supports researcher-led start-ups and spin-out companies, and has this year reported a significant growth in the number of female founders within the programme.

In the past eight years, GatewayUCC supported companies have raised over €50 million of public and private investment and supported over 60 start-ups and pre startups based on IP from the university. These IP based companies have contributed more than €22 million a year in salaries to the local economy.
