Podcast

Listening to The Voice of Experience (LIVE) is a podcast series to promote Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Research” . Ms Emmy Racine worked with members of the IDEAs PPI group to capture and share their experiences to date. Development of the podcast was funded by the Irish Research Council New Foundations award and it was officially launched in December 2019. Student projects

Lauren O Mahony is in her final year of the BSc Public Health Sciences and recipient of the HRB Summer Studentship Award (2020). She worked on the IDEAs project during summer 2020 under the supervision of both Dr Sheena McHugh and Dr Fiona Riordan. Lauren is analysing data from the original IDEAs consensus study (WP1). Her research compared the perspectives of people with diabetes and health care professionals’ in terms of the acceptability and feasibility of proposed intervention content and modes of delivery. By comparing the perspectives of both groups, this work sought to distinguish what is acceptable and feasible to whom, and why. Lauren is currently writing up the results for publication – watch this space!

Dara O’Keeffe is currently studying medicine in UCC. In 2018/19 she undertook a Master of Public Health and completed her dissertation under the supervision of Dr Sheena McHugh and Dr Fiona Riordan. Dara conducted a secondary of people with type 2 diabetes enrolled in the Midlands Diabetes Structured Care Programme.  Dara examined levels of attendance at Diabetic RetinaScreen and other screening services and predictors of attendance in this cohort. She is currently preparing this work for publication.
