The stressed brain -

The stressed brain: from neurobiology to neuropsychiatry

  • Understanding the effects of chronic or traumatic stress on the brain has huge implications for developing treatments for a variety of psychiatric disorders including depression and anxiety disorders. Moreover, delineating how stress during different neurodevelopmental windows can have major impact on the course of addiction, obesity and ageing process is being investigated.
  • The group is focused on stress-sensitive molecular, cellular and signalling events and how they respond to environmental or pharmacological interventions.  Translational animal models are key to this approach too.
  • Finally, biomarker discovery in patient population will further enhance our knowledge of such disorders.
