UCC CI won the Best Overall Entry Award at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Cork

St. Patrick's Day, known as Ireland's national holiday commemorating its patron saint, St. Patrick, took center stage in Cork City on March 17, 2024. The National Day Parade, themed "Pure Imagination 2024," featured nearly 4,000 participants forming dozens of parade units, attracting over 50,000 enthusiastic spectators from both Ireland and abroad.

The Chinese team, comprised of over 150 individuals from UCC CI, local Chinese community, and international students, showcased the rich tapestry of Chinese culture. The procession began with flag bearers symbolizing the friendship between two countries, followed by adorable panda mascots drawing cheers from spectators. Children and the dragon dance team exuded energy, while the Tai Chi fan performers displayed the allure of traditional Chinese martial arts. Additionally, groups representing various Chinese ethnic cultures added a diverse flavor to the event, alongside traditional attire teams like Qipao and Hanfu, and even characters from the classic novel "Journey to the West," each captivating the audience's attention with the charm of Chinese traditional culture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade offered Cork citizens a visual and cultural extravaganza, fostering positive exchanges and integration of diverse cultures within the local community. The Chinese team's recognition with the Best Overall Entry not only showcased the charm of Chinese culture but also laid a solid foundation for future cultural exchanges.
