Community Engagement

The School of Applied Social Studies has a strong reputation for promoting social justice, equality, diversity and equity in our local communities and in broader society. Many of our staff are involved in civil society working actively in the voluntary and community sector and are also engaged in adult and community education in Cork and Munster. This work includes community-based learning and collaborative community-based research with community organisations and charities and we include our students in this work as part of the CARL initiative.  See more information on CARL below. Our Community Engagement also involves public scholarship through creative works, exhibitions, media engagement and articles as well as membership of boards of management, social action and activism.
