Book Launch:

Former UCC President, Prof. Michael P. Mortell, will be launching Dr. Alan McCarthy's book, about the history of adult education and lifelong learning at UCC spanning from 1946 to 2022. 

Alfred O’Rahilly Lecture:

The Alfred O’Rahilly Lecture is an annual event initiated in 2016 to celebrate ACE's 70th anniversary. This lecture series aims to explore the public mission of the university, with a particular focus on adult education, lifelong learning, access, and community engagement. In 2023, the lecture will be delivered by Dr. Josephine Finn from the Department of Adult and Community Education at Maynooth University. 

Bertram Windle Award:

The Bertram Windle Award, also established in 2016, will be presented this year to Ms. Tina Neylon. She is being recognized for her exemplary contribution to lifelong learning. Ms. Neylon is noted as the founding Coordinator of Cork Lifelong Learning Festival. The award is designed by Artist Tom Little who will also be in attendance on the evening. 

This event is a great opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of individuals in the field of adult education and lifelong learning, as well as to reflect on the public mission of the university in these areas. The event will take place at Council Chambers in City Hall at 7pm and all are welcome to attend. This event is free of charge.
