Art exhibition exploring climate change and community opens in Cork cork

Created by 2,000 Cork women and artists from the USA, the exhibition transforms climate data into a striking visual record of change. Twenty years after its creation, The Knitting Map joins The Tempestry Project in exploring how local stories reflect a global climate crisis.

10 new scholars join 16 existing Quercus Scholars within UCC College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences. The Quercus Talented Students’ Programme is a scholarship programme that supports and promotes excellence in academia, sport, creative and performing art, active citizenship, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

Childcare, finance and time-poverty preventing lone parents from accessing third-level education

Systemic barriers such as inadequate financial supports, housing, childcare, and transport costs continue to block lone parents from pursuing education. The report calls for an “education first” approach, with adequate supports to enable lone parents to access higher education and attain well-paid, secure employment. New research led by UCC School of Applied Social Studies researchers in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin and One Family.
