The BA (Hons) (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) is a three-year degree progamme. Applicants must fulfil the minimum entry requirement specified here.

To be eligible for the award of the BA (Hons) (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) degree, a student will be required to have achieved 180 credits by obtaining 60 credits in each of First, Second and Third Arts (Digital Humanities and Information Technology). A student may not register for more than 60 credits in one year.

The BA (Hons) (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) (International) Pathway is a four-year programme which enables students to study abroad for a year in an approved University outside Ireland.

The BA (Hons) (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) (Work Experience) Pathway is a four-year programme which enables students to undertake a 60 credit work placement for one academic year, approved by the programme Board of Studies.

In First Arts (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) students take Computer Science (CS) and Arts and Humanities (DH) modules to the value of 45 credits together with one other subject (15 credits) from the following First Arts subjects: Archaeology, Béaloideas, Celtic Civilisation, Chinese Studies, Economics, English, Geography, German, Greek, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Philosophy, Politics, and Religions and Global Diversity and Sociology.

Change of Subject (First Year only)

Changes to First Year subjects will be allowed, provided subject prerequisites are met, up to four weeks after the start of Semester 1, i.e. until Friday, 5 October 2018. The online facility for making changes to subjects will only be open for the first two weeks of Semester 1, i.e. until Friday, 21 September 2018. Subsequent changes up until Friday, 5 October 2018 must be processed manually through the Student Records and Examinations Office, West Wing, UCC. Changes for FETAC and Mature students and any other student not presenting with a Leaving Certificate must be processed manually through the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences Office, G31, O'Rahilly Building. Three Year Rule
Students must pass the First University Examination in Arts (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) within three academic years from the date of first registration for First Year. Failure to comply with this rule means that the student will be ineligible to proceed further with his/her studies. Exceptions to this rule may be granted by the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, only for very serious reasons.

No student may register for Second Arts (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) until he/she has passed the First University Examination in Arts (Digital Humanities and Information Technology). The selection of any module is conditional on the Professor or Lecturer concerned and the College being satisfied that a student is capable of profiting by attendance thereat. Students may not select modules which involve a timetable clash.

Students who wish to take the four-year option with a year abroad must register for the BA (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) (International) Pathway at the beginning of Second Year. Students who wish to take the four-year option with a work placement must register for the BA (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) (Work Experience) Pathway at the beginning of Second Year.

In Second Arts (Digital Humanities and Information Technology) students take Computer Science (CS) and Arts and Humanities (DH) modules to the value of 50 credits together with 10 credits of their chosen minor subject continued from First Year.

Change of Module
Students wishing to register a change of module must do so via the Student Portal no later than two weeks after the start of each Semester, i.e. by Friday, 21 September 2018 (Semester 1) or Friday, 25 January 2019 (Semester 2). Semester 1 modules cannot be changed in Semester 2. No changes in registration will be allowed after these deadlines.
