SDSN Ireland attended the Global SDSN Chairs meeting and the Global SDSN Leadership Council at Columbia University, USA.Deputy Co-Chairs Professor Brian Ó Gallachóir, Associate Vice-President of Sustainability at University College Cork and ERI Director, and Professor Michael Alcorn Queen’s University Belfast shared SDSN Irelands’ accomplishments with cities-university partnerships and research for driving SDG progress. Insights on research for policy and arts practice for sustainability.
SDSN Network manager Dr John Barimo also shared developments with Voluntary Local Reviews on SDG Progress in the Irish context.
The SDSN Ireland delegation also attended the Summit of the Future Action Days at the United Nations General Assembly. During his welcoming address, Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez stated;
“We need academics to push the boundaries of knowledge to create solutions”
SDSN Ireland Executive Committee Chair David Donoghue delivered the keynote address based on his insights as lead Irish negotiator in the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
