National Fossil Photo Contest

Ireland’s Fossil Heritage based at the UCC School of BEES and the ERI is launching a new photo competition, where members of the public are asked to take snaps of the fossils of Ireland.

The winning entries of the National Fossil Photo Contest will be showcased in three dedicated exhibitions at Cork City Airport, Cork City Library and Mayfield Library in July 2023. Winners will also receive One-for-All vouchers, with a top prize of vouchers worth €300.

The theme of the contest is Irish fossils – Hidden Treasures. We invite anybody with an interest in photography, fossils, nature or heritage to explore the rocks and building stones of Ireland for fossils and showcase what they find in a high-resolution photograph.

The closing date for the contest is Friday 26th of May at 5 pm. Submissions can be sent to Jess Franklin at jfranklin@ucc.ie.

Further details of the rules and guidelines for the contest can be found on the Ireland’s Fossil Heritage website https://www.ucc.ie/en/fossil-heritage/fossilart/
