Government approves membership of new Just Transition Commission

On the 22nd of October the government approved the appointment of 10 members and 1 chair to the newly formed Just Transition Commission. The Commission will have a key role in advising and supporting the government on just transition considerations regarding Ireland's move to a climate neutral economy. MaREI and ERI researcher Dr. Evan Boyle has been appointed as an independent expert within the Commission. His research focuses on community engagement for energy transitions and transdisciplinary approaches to sustainability. His work has implemented action research methods for co-creating climate action solutions with stakeholders beyond academia through involvement in a number of projects including Dingle Peninsula 2030 (2018-2021), Imaginging2050 (2018-2020), STEPS (2022-2024) and will be further developed in his current role within the JustCities Hub project (2024-2028).
