Squash Club AGM

The AGM is on this Wednesday, March 7th, at 6pm in the Mardyke Arena
We will be meeting in the Pavillion, which is behind the Arena, and is a big red brick building. I'll also be at the Mardyke reception at 6pm if anyone can't find it.
We'll have a quick review of all the remarkable events of the year, a discussion on what to improve for next year, and then begin nominations.

Afters Tickets on sale Friday 9.30am in the Student Centre From the Guagan Room on the Top Floor . Student Card is a must or no sale and you cannot buy for someone else even if you have their card.

DCU Beginner Squash tournament

UCC Squash Club was proudly represented in the Beginner Squash Tournament hosted by DCU on 11th February.The day was divided into two competitions.
The first was a clear UCC vs. DCU match off where UCC won 5-3. Games were played up to 11 and were best of three.
The second competition involved a men's and ladies knock out tournament. UCC's Cathal Power and Orlaith Ni Shuilleabhain both came first in their respective competitions.A great standard of play and sportsmanship was shown by all.
The Beginner's Team consisted of Michael Hanrahan, Cathal Power, Jerry Harrington, Kevin Ahern, Sean Knott, Orlaith Ni Shuilleabhain, Cara Robertson and Amina Flynn. Overall we had a great weekend in Dublin and look forward to more events like this in the future.

2012 Intervarsities Champions!!

The Mens A team were undefeated in the tournament with A3 Frank Ryan clinching a gripping 3-2 win over Trinity's A3 to seal a 3-1 victory for UCC.
Men's A: Jaime Balbuena, Fionn O'Brien, Frank Ryan, Donal Coughlan and Tim O'Donovan.
The Mens B lost to a very strong Galway team in the final.
Men's B: Dan Gallagher, Justin Lam, Brendan Lawton, Eoghan Meaney and Vinny Landy
The Mens C lost to the winning team in a tight match.
Men's C: Rossi Griffin, Mark Healy, Mark Power, Kelvin Cummins and Charlie Leahy
The Mens D won their division well.
Men's D: Larry Phelan, Richard Bradfield, Peter O'Callaghan, Donal Murphy and Orlaith O'Sullivan
The Womens A were unlucky against some very strong teams.
Women's A: Rachel Power, Katie Bolton, Laura Sheehan, Aoife Tobin and Laura Horan
The Womens B won their division without dropping a game!
Women's B: Danielle Bray, Kayrin Ong, Katie McCarthy, Maria O'Brien and Bernadette Hanley

This weekend, January 21st, there will be an afternoon/evening tournament for all those interested in playing some squash.
It's not going to be anything serious, just a few games and some fun, and its for all levels.

UCC 40th Year Anniversary Hoodies |

Hi Guys and Girls,
This year is the 40th year since the UCC squash club was founded.
To commemorate our birthday, we're designed two new hoodies for the Squash club, A red hoodie with black lining and black logos, and a grey hoodie with red lining and black logos.
A mockup of the hoodie design and the actual hoodies we have ordered can be seen below (note, I made these myself, so they do look a little shaky, but the real thing won't look like a child drew it :-) but very professional and fitting for a 40th anniversary)
Sizes available are S - 36" M - 40" L - 44" XL - 48"
And now for the important part- the price. These hoodies will be 25euro each, and shall be ready for collection in about one week from the time of order.

The 2011 Munster Open was held in Cork City the weekend of the 30th of September. UCC Squash sent 4 players to the competition.
