Eco2Schools as New European Bauhaus Labs

About the Project

Eco2Schools aims to demonstrate that educational buildings can become enablers of the New European Bauhaus. This is proposed to be achieved by:

  • integration of pedagogical targets regarding sustainability into the curriculum,
  • re-considering the relationship of the schools with the local communities as hubs of innovation towards the green transition and sustainable development and,
  • ongoing development of a roadmap on how schools can become a physical place of education and knowledge.

Project Timeline: January 2023 - December 2025 (36 Months).

Project Deliverables

Multiple deliverables for each work package are being published throughout the lifepsan of the project (2023-2025). These are accessible on the project's website. Examples of output include:

  • Development of Use Cases of the 5 Pilot Sites.
  • Development of Green Action Plans of the 5 Pilot Sites.
  • Development of Implementation Plans.
  • Ongoing refinement of the Eco2Schools Roadmap (a tool for more schools post-project).
  • Refinement of the proposed Social Value Framework that measures the pedagogical impact of the Eco2Schools process.

Project Partners

UCC is one of five pilot sites where the project's interventions are being conducted. The other pilot sites within the project are: Microville112 Eco Campus (France), Ciência Viva – Pavilhão do Conhecimento (Portugal), Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (Sweden) and Ellinogermaniki Agogi (Greece).

The rest of the project consortium comprise: Good Planet Belgium, An Taisce, Lern Land Schaft, University of Bayreuth, Alliance Sens et Economie, VenhoevenCS, CY École de Design and the University of Bayreuth.
