Outline
Module Goal:
To acquire knowledge and skills about rights-based, inclusive practices and teaching methodologies to support students with intellectual disabilities (ID) studying in the further education sector. The module will encompass:
- the principles and values of inclusive education
- competencies and skills for inclusive education
Module Content:
Informed by the work of the id+ Project at UCC and case studies from Further Education, the module introduces participants to the values and principles underpinning inclusive education, and the practices and methodologies of inclusive teaching. Participants are encouraged to consider how they can apply accessible and inclusive learning approaches in their classrooms.
Practicalities
This course will be delivered by Prof. Máire Leane and Dr Nicola Maxwell, with additional input from a range of staff, students and other stakeholders involved in UCC’s id+ Project.
Requirements
Applicants must be employed in the FET sector.
