The Professor Gerald Fitzgerald Research Award
At a glance
- Value: €500
- You must be a current Postgraduate student registered in the School of Microbiology (and up to 12 months after receiving a postgraduate qualification)
- Questions about this award can be directed to LBrown@ucc.ie
The Award will be presented to the School of Microbiology postgraduate research student who submits the best publication in terms of Journal Ranking, Impact, Novelty and Applicant Contribution.
- The award will be called "The Professor Gerald Fitzgerald Research Award”
- The award will be adjudicated by the Graduate studies Committee in the School of Microbiology.
- The winner will be entered into the SEFS Postgraduate Research Publications of the Year Competition.
Application process:
Open November/ December each year for mid-late January submission deadline. Application by email as follows: Applications submitted by e-mail as a single PDF to the Chair of the School of Microbiology Graduate Studies Committee (GSC):
- PDF copy of the research paper
- Evidence that the paper has been accepted for publication or published
- Statement defining the impact and novelty of the published research (200 word). Each applicant must select a single Science Citation Index (SCI) subject category as part of his or her application, from which the applicant’s journal will be ranked.
- Statement describing their exact contribution to the paper (Max. 100 words).
