Walker PhD Scholarship in Audiology and Hearing Sciences

Walker PhD in Audiology and Hearing: This research project aims to improve our understanding of the association between hearing loss and cognitive decline in an Irish based population, including the mechanisms linking the two conditions, and evidence for intervention through hearing and communication rehabilitation.
Essential criteria:
• A minimum 2.1 master’s degree (or equivalent) in Audiology, hearing sciences or other closely related disciplines.
• Strong interest in hearing research.
• Strong interest in Adult Audiology and rehabilitative Audiology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Desirable:
• A track record in publishing research in the area of hearing or cognitive decline
• Experience with experimental design.
• Familiarity with quantitative and/or/ qualitative data analysis
Applications open on the 1st August and will be closing on 1st September 2025.
This is a one-off full PhD scholarship, payable to the successful candidate over a four year period. The selecton committee will include Head of Audiology, Head of Department of Speech and Hearing and will also include an external assessor.
