Research Supervisor of the Year

This award recognises, encourages and rewards those who have shown sustained excellence in the supervision and development of exceptional and influential researchers.

This award is student-led and requires two nominators – two current postgraduate research students or one current postgraduate student and a graduate who has completed their research within the last 5 years.

Evaluation Criteria

Mentorship & Guidance	Quality and availability of academic and personal guidance. Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their potential.
Research Development Support	Effectiveness in helping students develop research skills and independence. Support for students in publishing, presenting, and disseminating their research.
Professional Development	Commitment to fostering students' career development and employability. Encouragement of networking, collaboration, and professional opportunities.
Feedback & Communication	Timely, constructive, and actionable feedback on research progress. Clear and open communication with students.
Inclusivity & Wellbeing	Support for students' mental health and wellbeing. Promotion of an inclusive, respectful, and supportive research environment.
Recognition & Impact	Evidence of students' success under their supervision (e.g., awards, publications, career outcomes). Positive testimonials from current and former students.
