The twenty new Quercus Scholars for the academic year 2023/24 were celebrated at their Gala awards dinner on November 22nd in the Aula Maxima.

UCC President, John O'Halloran, & Maria McKnight, Bank of Ireland, presented the new scholars with their awards on what was a great night. Also present at the event were Eamonn Corcoran, Head of Bank of Ireland Cork, Gillian Mangan, Bank Manager for Bank of Ireland Patrick Street and Blackpool, school and family representatives, members of UCC staff, and many of the outgoing scholars. 

The guests were treated to a fabulous sit down meal, followed by a concert, planned and performed by Quercus scholars from across all strands. 

Those that received their awards on the night were;

Creative & Performing Arts' Scholarship

Oisin Dilger (composer/musician), Gobnait Kiely (traditional musician), Daniel Madden (theater production, creative writing, drama), and Fionn O'Hanlon (bouzouki)

Innovation/Entrepreneurship Scholarship

Sports' Scholarship

Sean Condon (Rugby), Ben Cunningham (Hurling), Aoife Healy (Camogie & Ladies Football), Eva Mangan (Soccer), Conor McGlinchey (Kick-Boxing), Adam Murphy (Rowing), Robyn Murphy (Hockey), Ben O'Connor (Rugby), Sean Condon (Rugby)

University (Academic) Scholarship

Olga Andriyashchenko (Pharmacy, College of Medicine & Health), Ella Barrett (Social Science, College of Arts, Celtic Studies & Social Sciences), Grace Lynch (Plant Biology, College of Science, Engineering & Food Science), AmergĂ­n Quinlan (Law & Irish, College of Business & Law)

Conor McGlinchey was not available to attend on the night because he was at the WAKO Kick-Boxing World Championship. Ben O'Connor's award was collected by his mother as he was at a Munster Rugby Training Camp. Eva Mangan was also missing on the night because she had an important away cup game against the University of Ulster.
