Outline
Module Goal
To develop a framework for the design of the upstream and downstream production process of bio-pharmaceuticals, through the use of novel approaches/technologies.
Module Content
- This advanced, highly specialised micro-credential supports the learner in acquiring industry standard skills such as: Define a production process to operate with flexibility in order to effectively facilitate efficient technological transfers and production process.
- Integrate an upstream and downstream production process into a commercial facility layout through incorporation of state-of-the-art technologies for biopharmaceutical processing e.g. disposable technology, process analytical technology, QbD, thereby increasing speed to risk reduction milestones
- Design a production suite to align personnel, equipment and material flows with the existing procedures, facility layout and process support areas to minimise impact on other processes.

Why Choose
On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
-
Define a production process to operate with flexibility in order to effectively facilitate efficient technological transfers and production process.
-
Integrate an upstream and downstream production process into a commercial facility layout through incorporation of state-of-the-art technologies for biopharmaceutical processing e.g. disposable technology, process analytical technology, QbD, thereby increasing speed to risk reduction milestones
-
Design a production suite to align personnel, equipment and material flows with the existing procedures, facility layout and process support areas to minimise impact on other processes.
Requirements
This micro-credential is organised to accommodate part-time students who are working in industry looking to upskill or reskill in this specialist area. The micro-credential offers graduates working in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry as well as students and professionals with basic engineering backgrounds/experience the opportunity to further develop their skill set and employability across a wider range of roles in the industry through enhanced continuing professional development.
Fees and Costs
The HCI Pillar 3 Micro-credential Learner Fee Subsidy has been introduced to enable more learners to address critical skills gaps and engage with lifelong learning.
The fee for this micro-credential is €1,000 but applicants who meet the subsidy requirements can attend this micro-credential for €500.
