Home energy usage and road transport emissions are responsible for two-thirds of greenhouse gasses being generated in Cork City, according to important new UCC research commissioned by Cork City Council’s Climate Action Unit.

UCC highlights the benefits of switching the engine off
07 Sep 2023- If drivers avoided engine idling for just 3 minutes every day of the year, Carbon Dioxide emissions would be reduced by 1.4 million tonnes annually – the equivalent of taking 320,000 cars off the road.
- Studies have found children in particular are most at risk of engine idling.

07 Sep 2023Dermot Keogh (1945-2023), who passed away yesterday, Wednesday September 6, was a distinguished and prolific historian of many aspects of Ireland in the 20th century - labour history, the Irish Jewish community, Irish diplomatic history, church-state relations, Irish connections with Latin America especially Argentina and Irish political and constitutional history.
