We extend our congratulations to Connie O’Connell who recently concluded 43 years of dedicated teaching here at the Department of Music, UCC. A highly respected musician and teacher, Connie, taught generations of fiddle students at the Department.

In this talk, ethnomusicologist Michael Bakan draws upon a research career encompassing more than three decades and spanning a wide range of topics and approaches—from Balinese gamelan to disability studies and the ethnomusicology of autism—to advance a new research trajectory and epistemological vantage point for investigating the relationship of musicking and dancing.
