Outline
This course is aimed at Education Professionals, at all levels including Preschool, Primary, Secondary and Special Needs Assistants (SNA), and those working in the Arts. The course will provide students with practical skills and toolkits to create a rich music environment in their classrooms that encourages children of all abilities to be active participants. The course will included blended learning with online lectures and interactive in person workshops held in the Department of Music UCC. The programme will be delivered by an interdisciplinary team of practitioners with multiple years and experience of working with neurodiverse children.

Practicalities
On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Illustrate a comprehensive understanding of neurodiversity and related terminologies.
- Demonstrate an understanding and reflect critically on current music pedagogies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of a neural based education model.
- Identify practices that promote inclusion and scaffold development within learning.
- Show self-reliance on selecting, interpreting, preparing, and teaching appropriate music content for a neurodiverse setting.
- Gain the knowledge of transferable therapeutic music skills to the classroom.
Requirements
- Academic requirements: leaving cert or equivalent to a passing level.
- Written requirement: 250 word statement of interest in neurodiversity and working in a creative art form.
