Fossil Info
Many rock surfaces here show a striking branching pattern. These branches are trace fossils and are the burrows of tiny ancient worms that lived in fine silty mud on the sea floor. Here at Clogher Strand the rocks formed offshore, in waters that were deep enough to be affected only by strong storms and not regular waves.
