Outline
Module Goal: To introduce students to the study and application of core constructs from the Psychology and Sociology of Education.
Module Content:
- Changing Societal Contexts
- Constructing Adolescence/Young People
- Educability: Perspectives, Practices and Structures which 'Fix' and 'Change' Ability
- Well-being, Identity and Development: Contexts and Challenges.
- Perspectives on Learning: Influences and Implications.
- The 'Good' Teacher and Teaching? Intentions, Processes and Outcomes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment.
- Schools as Agents of Social Stratification/Inequality Reproduction:
- Structures of Class, Race-Ethnicity and Gender-Sexuality
