Byrne Chemistry Group is always on the lookout for talented researchers with whom to collaborate. Projects are currently available in the areas of carbohydrate chemistry, carbon dioxide utilisation, catalytic asymmetric synthesis, and organophosphorus chemistry. Dr. Peter Byrne has long-standing interests in physical organic chemistry, spectroscopic observation of reactive intermediates, the Wittig reaction, and the theory of chemical bonding.

Candidates wishing to pursue a Ph.D. may be interested in applying for upcoming positions to work on a recently awarded SFI-funded project, or in submitting an application for a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship from the Irish Research Council (IRC). Persons who have concluded (or almost completed) their doctoral studies may be interested in applying either for a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship or for a Marie Curie Fellowship. Dr. Byrne would be happy to support applications for any of the above.

If you are interested in pursuing research in any of the areas mentioned above, and would like to discuss the available projects, please contact Peter by e-mail at peter.byrne@ucc.ie
