The scope of the indications for the oculoplastic surgeon to reconstruct the eyelid and surrounding structures are vast and include ptosis, tear duct problems, skin cancers and trauma. This cadaveric course provides hands-on training in flap techniques, complex reconstruction, and graft applications for ophthalmology registrars. During the course you will apply skin and tarsal grafts, and local flaps such as rhomboid, glabellar and tenzel flaps. With faculty you will discuss, plan and practice more complex reconstruction methods such as Hughes tarso-conjunctival and cheek rotation flaps.
Learning outcomes:
- After doing this course you will:
- Increase your proficiency in selecting and applying flaps for reconstruction.
- Gain more confidence in decision making around reconstruction options.
- Improve your skills in ocular surgical planning.
- Gain knowledge in the theory and principles of complex periorbital reconstruction.
