A Global Community

The UCC diaspora of over 200,000 alumni spans six continents. To support the global alumni community, UCC is building a network of International Alumni Leaders in cities and regions throughout the world.  Depending on the size of the UCC alumni population in a particular area, International Alumni Leaders volunteer either as part of a local chapter committee or as a local representative.  (In cities with more than 1,000 UCC alumni, chapters are formed with a committee of Alumni Leaders.  In cities and regions with fewer than 1,000 alumni, UCC is represented by individual Alumni Leaders.)  

International Alumni Leaders are the primary point of contact for UCC, and for other alumni, in the areas in which they are based.  They collaborate closely with the office of Alumni and Development.  In partnership with the office of Alumni and Development, International Alumni Leaders provide a social and professional network for their local alumni communities, assisting UCC in the organisation of events and activities which are designed to bring alumni together in the regions in which they live.  UCC’s International Alumni Leaders are ambassadors for UCC throughout the world.

If you are interested in volunteering for a role as an International Chapter Leader in your city or region, contact the office of Alumni and Development on alumni@ucc.ie. We will organise a call with you to tell you more about what is involved in the role and will provide you with an application form.  

Guidelines for International Alumni Leaders

The Volunteer Handbook for Alumni Representatives, Chapters, Clubs and Groups provides a complete overview of what is involved in volunteering as an International Alumni Leader. 

If you are an International Alumni Leader who is planning an event or activity for an alumni group, the first step is to contact the office of Alumni and Development for assistance. Please also download and complete the Events and Activities Risk Assessment template. This template must be submitted to the Advancement Office in advance of all events and activities organised by volunteers. Once complete, please email a copy to alumni@ucc.ie.
