Today, Cancer Research @UCC is at the forefront of investigator-led translational and clinical trials, tackling some of the most challenging and poor-prognosis cancers to pioneer the next breakthrough in precision oncology.

Cancer touches so many Irish families but treatments such as precision oncology and immunotherapy have moved forward and are no longer a distant ambition.

The nation's first PhD Scholarship in Audiology and Hearing Sciences has been established by UCC and Walker Hearing Clinics. This historic donation will fund innovative studies on cognitive decline and hearing loss, a global issue impacting 1.5 billion people.

The David Latten Social Impact Award was established with the support of the Logitech Cares Fund, a philanthropic initiative by the Tides Foundation.

UCC was delighted to welcome Elizabeth Lynch, Head of HR, Kerrygold Park to campus on Tuesday 24 September. Kerrygold Park recently renewed their commitment to the Access UCC PLUS Programme, supporting two undergraduate students as they begin their academic journeys.

UCC is proud to have a long-standing and collaborative relationship with Qualcomm Ireland. In addition to philanthropic support, Qualcomm Ireland have been generous with their time, staff and expertise. Many of Qualcomm Ireland’s employees are alumni of University College Cork, with over 45 UCC Engineering graduates currently employed full-time at the company. The majority of Qualcomm’s Ireland management team are UCC graduates, who continue to drive teams at the Cork site to new levels of world class research and development. 

UCC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Gleeson as the new Professor (Scale II) of Medical Oncology, the first of two Oncology professorships funded by UPMC, in collaboration with the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP).
