Taoiseach Micheál Martin opened the 180th anniversary exhibition, “Celebrating 180 Years: University College Cork in Society”, at the Boole Library. Running until March 2026, please come visit it on campus.

This month UCC was ranked as the second most sustainable university in the world, according to an assessment of 1,745 universities from almost 105 different countries around the world.

UCCSU New Food Pantry: Cutting Waste and Supporting Students
UCC’s Students’ Union (UCCSU) has officially launched its new Food Pantry, a sustainability initiative designed to reduce food waste and support students experiencing food insecurity. The pantry was officially launched in October, marking the transition from a successful pilot earlier this year to a permanent weekly pantry.

Class Reunions: Friends Reunited
Since September, UCC alumni have come together to celebrate their class reunions, and their generosity has been remarkable. Through class gifts, reunions have raised an impressive €22,962, supporting initiatives that make a real difference for students and society.

Alumni Spotlight: Irene Buckley - Composer
Composer Irene Buckley works across choral, operatic, orchestral, theatrical, film, and electronic music, and has collaborated extensively with filmmaker Pat Collins. She has earned multiple award nominations, including two IFTAs and a Cinema Eye Honors nomination for her film scores co-composed with Linda Buckley. Recent projects include live scores for silent films and her opera Lament for Art O’Leary, which was selected to represent Ireland at the 2025 International Rostrum of Composers.

British Council's 2026 UK-Ireland Alumni Reception
The British Council, in association with the British Embassy in Ireland, are delighted to host their 2026 UK-Ireland Alumni Networking Reception at UCC in February. This special event has been a highlight of UK-Ireland engagement in recent years, bringing together alumni who studied at higher education institutions across the UK, who are now based in Ireland.
