Dr Séamus McDermott Entrepreneurial Scholarship 2026 Awarded at UCC
University College Cork recently welcomed Mr. Aidan Corless, Chairperson of the Liffey Trust, for a roundtable discussion focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, and the vital role of philanthropy in higher education. The visit also marked the announcement of the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Dr Séamus McDermott Entrepreneurial Scholarship.

Tánaiste launches new €11.6 million Cerebral Palsy research programme at UCC

ELEVATE, a ground-breaking five-year initiative, has been funded under the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Strategic Partnership Programme (€5 million), with co-funding partner The Cerebral Palsy Foundation (CPF) providing support of over €6 million. The programme will be led by the Irish Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research (INFANT) at UCC, partnering with RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Trinity College Dublin and all the tertiary-level maternity hospitals in Ireland.

UCC is proud to have a long-standing and collaborative relationship with Qualcomm Ireland. In addition to philanthropic support, Qualcomm Ireland have been generous with their time, staff and expertise. Many of Qualcomm Ireland’s employees are alumni of University College Cork, with over 45 UCC Engineering graduates currently employed full-time at the company. The majority of Qualcomm’s Ireland management team are UCC graduates, who continue to drive teams at the Cork site to new levels of world class research and development.
