ASSERT Centre Delivers High-Fidelity Pre-Hospital Simulation Training

The ASSERT Centre at University College Cork hosted an advanced simulation training programme with West Cork Rapid Response, led by Dr. Jason van der Velde, to enhance emergency care skills among paramedics and EMTs. Using ASSERT’s high-tech simulation suite and a 270-degree video wall, participants practiced critical care scenarios in realistic, location-based environments, strengthening clinical readiness and decision-making.

ASSERT Hosts inaugural Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection workshop.

Professor Marietta Iacucci led Ireland’s first hands-on Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) workshop at the ASSERT Centre, joined by international experts Prof. Toshi Uraoka and Dr. Yasuharu Maeda. The event provided advanced training for Irish gastroenterologists using cutting-edge equipment from Olympus, Cook Medical, and Irish Hospital Supplies. As a precise technique for removing gastrointestinal lesions, ESD is now more accessible in Ireland thanks to this groundbreaking initiative.

Trauma Resuscitation Anaesthesiology at ASSERT

ASSERT Centre proudly hosted the first Trauma Resuscitation Anaesthesiology Course, offering anaesthetic teams an immersive, high-fidelity simulation experience to enhance trauma management and decision-making skills. With support from Medguard, Decent Simulators, and expert faculty from Cork University Hospital and the UK, the course successfully combined technical training with complex scenario-based learning.
