02 Sep 2024The President was joined by colleagues Dr Maria Kirrane, Mark Poland and Dr Ger Culley who will shared an update on the outputs and impact of Goal 5 of the Strategic Plan: Our Place, Our Footprint, which aims to radically reform our practices and use of space and technology to meet our sustainability ambitions and climate action goals. Director of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, Dr Avril Hutch, provided an overview of recent projects and progress in advancing EDI across our campus aimed at fostering a more inclusive and diverse university community. -
Second Hand September sees the launch of Fashforward Repair Kit
01 Sep 2024Use of second-hand items and repairing to reduce environmental impact is championed this month for Second-Hand September. In line with this UCC's Green Campus were delighted to have FashForward in UCC to demonstrate their clothing repair kits, which are available for all students to loan from UCC Boole Library. The two kits include materials for denim patching and repair and sewing buttons/mending seams. The kits are accompanied by online demonstrations.

UCC Community Garden News
29 Apr 2024UCC Community Garden is now in full swing. Seedlings are being planted into warmer soil, birds (such as Goldfinch, Long-tailed Tit, Blue Tit and of course Robin, the gardener’s friend) are calling and singing. Peas, salad leaves and a plethora of herbs are amongst the greenery that’s ready to eat.
Accompanying this vibrancy is increased use of outdoor spaces on campus. With better weather, now is the time to study outside, take lunch time walks along UCC’s biodiversity trail, and soak up the diversity of the campus’ no-mow areas.
