UCC Dante Public Lecture Series 2021

The Department of Italian, UCC, the Centre for Dante Studies in Ireland (CDSI), and CASiLaC are delighted to announce the 2021 programme for our annual series of public lectures on Dante. Please join us on MS Teams for these lectures (write to daragh.oconnell@ucc.ie for link).

Prof. Zygmunt G. Barański (University of Notre Dame/ University of Cambridge) – ‘“Di ramo in ramo": Faith and Imagery in Paradiso XXIV’.
2. Monday February 8 –
Prof. Alison Cornish (New York University – President of Dante Society of America) – ‘Belief in Hell: Breaking faith in the Circle of Violence (Inferno 10 and 13)’
3. Monday February 15 –
Prof. Simon Gilson (University of Oxford) – ‘Ingegno in Dante: Ingenuity and Creativity in the Commedia'
4. Monday February 22 –
Prof. Lino Pertile (Harvard University) – ‘Luxury and Greed in the Divine Comedy’
5. Monday March 1 – Roundtable: Launch of CDSI (Centre for Dante Studies in Ireland, UCC) – Dr Daragh O’Connell, with Dr David Bowe (IRC Postdoctoral Fellow, UCC), Dr Federica Coluzzi (University of Warwick, former IRC Postdoctoral Fellow, UCC), Dr Valentine Mele (IRC Postdoctoral Fellow, UCC), Dr Leyla Livraghi (University of Pisa/ IRC Postdoctoral Fellow, UCC) and Dario Galassini (Eduardo Saccone Scholar, UCC).
