On 30 May 2025, the WEC4FISH team successfully delivered its first deliverable report on an energy use review for offshore aquaculture. The work aimed to explore the current energy usage and the potential for replacing traditional energy sources with renewable power, specifically wave energy, in offshore aquaculture operations. This milestone marks timely advancement in the team’s ongoing research project, aiming to make aquaculture more sustainable and energy-efficient. More developments and future updates on the research are expected in the coming months.

We were delighted to participate in the Environ 2025 Conference at University College Dublin, where our research on "Understanding and Predicting Groundwater Flooding in Cork City: A Multi-Model Approach" was presented. We are proud to share that Mohamad Soboh had the pleasure of attending and presenting at the 45th Annual Conference of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (Irish Group), held in Tullamore on April 15–16.

This year's conference, themed "Groundwater & Geotechnics," gathered leading experts and professionals to exchange knowledge, research, and innovations at the interface of groundwater science and geotechnical engineering.

Mohamad was honoured to present the team's work and to engage in discussions with such a dedicated and insightful community.

Researchers from SHED were invited to attend the SEAI  National TCP day for IEA Technology Collaboration Programme. The IEA TCP programme facilitates international co‐operation to develop new and improved energy technologies. SHED members currently contribute to Two tasks, the Ocean Energy Systems Task (OES) and the Wind Task. The event was hosted by the Department of Environment, Communications & Climate at Tom Johnson House, Haddington Road, Dublin. As a member of the SHED research group, Mohamad took part in the Ma Thèse en 180 Secondes event held on May 30, 2025, at the University of Galway. Representing his doctoral research in this renowned francophone science communication event, he successfully presented his work in just three minutes to a diverse audience. It was an excellent opportunity to sharpen his communication skills and present our work clearly and engagingly.
