BEdGaeilge Scholarships / Scoláireachtaí BEdGaeilge

Is chun cur le hoiliúint mhúinteoirí Gaeilge den gcéad scoth na scoláireachtaí seo. Is tré urraíocht ón gComhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscolaíochta a chuirtear iad ar fáil, ar bhonn páirtíochta idir an Chomhairle agus Roinn na Nua-Ghaeilge, Coláiste na hOllscoile, Corcaigh.
Ten BEdGaeilge scholarships of €2,000 each are offered for competition on the basis of results in the Irish Leaving Certificate Examination or equivalent. The Scholarships are tenable only in University College Cork, for the First Year of the BEdGaeilge, in the session following the Leaving Certificate Examination on which the award is based.
Eligibility and Selection
To be eligible to receive a scholarship a student must have met the normal entry requirements for the BEdGaeilge have been validly registered for same. A student who has previously registered for a programme leading to a degree in any third level college shall not be eligible for the award of an Entrance Scholarship.
Scholarships shall be awarded in order of merit in accordance with the standard UCC scoring system for Leaving Certificate results as set out under regulations for admission in the University Calendar. Only performance in the six best subjects taken at the first attempt at the same sitting of the Leaving Certificate will be counted. In the event of a tie it may be necessary to award a reduced Scholarship to some candidates.
If the holder of a BEdGaeilge Scholarship withdraws from the programme for which they have registered or fails to continue throughout the year to meet the attendance and other requirements for the programme including examination entry, they may be required to repay to the University the whole or part of the scholarship.

The BEdGaeilge Scholarships Scholarship will be offered to qualifying students ahead of the Quercus Entrance Scholarships. Students who accept the BEdGaeilge Scholarships do so on the basis that they will be exempt from the monetary award associated with the UCC Quercus Entrance Scholarship, but will hold the title of Quercus Entrance Scholar.
