The Moss Keane Rugby Scholarship

The University has received a sum from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, for the provision of an annual sports scholarship to perpetuate the memory of the late Moss Keane.
Eligibility and Selection
The Scholarship shall be called “Moss Keane Rugby Scholarship”.
- The Scholarship consists of a cash prize in the value of €5,000, awarded annually.
- All applicants must satisfy the normal entry requirement of the University and have been offered a place on a degree or postgraduate course at the university. Applicants should apply for such course through the CAO in the normal way. Existing students are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be pursuing a full time university course.
- Applicants must demonstrate outstanding ability in their chosen sport and demonstrate an ability to compete at National or International level.
- Scholarships will be awarded to candidates who have reached a very high level of performance or have the potential to do so.
- Renewal of the Scholarship is dependent on the maintenance of a satisfactory academic and athletic standard throughout the duration of the programme.
- Money will be paid out in two stages.
- To monitor level of fitness the recipients of a Scholarship will be required to undergo a series of physiological tests.
- Recipients will be required to maintain a satisfactory academic standard throughout the duration of the Scholarship and to display at all times an appropriate standard of conduct and sportsmanship.
- Recipients will be required to make themselves available to the Department of Sport & Physical Activity where and when requested – up to a maximum of three times a year.
- UCC RFC Rugby Committee will select the candidate & submit their recommendation to the Sports Scholarship Review panel for approval
