A new SEAI-funded project has put Irish research at the forefront of international efforts to accelerate the development of large-scale floating wind energy (FLOW) farms. TIDEA-IRL will produce a long-term FLOW development roadmap for Ireland, identifying recommendations to maximise its social, economic and environmental benefits.

Selkie was invited to attend this year’s event to present on the development and application of a combined Geographic Information System (GIS) and Techno-Economic (TE) tool for wave and tidal energy.

Selkie researchers win MaREI Project of the Year 2022 at the MRIA forum in Dublin. The Marine Renewables Industry Association (MRIA) represents companies and interests in Ireland and Northern Ireland in the Marine Renewables Emerging Technologies (MRET) sector. The Marine Renewables Emerging Technologies, MRIA’s area of concern, include ocean energy and floating offshore wind energy as well as ‘hybrids’ (energy convertors which combine wave and floating wind devices).
