Dr. Paula Fernández Gómez completed her secondment at Seqbiome, a world leading microbiome contract research company. 

Lea joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a Research Ireland Centre based at University College Cork as an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the functional definition of vagus-innervated neural pathways involved in the gut microbiota-regulation of spatial memory and she tells us how her secondment at Pileje has helped her with her science communication skills. Pileje is a French pharmaceutical company focusing on four therapeutic fields: Microbiota, Phytotherapy, Nutrition and Micronutrition. They are the first supplier of food supplements in France and have an international reach through subsidiaries and distributors.

Nathan's secondment was completed at ATLANTIA, a contract research organisation that is a spin-out company from APC Microbiome Ireland. ATLANTIA specialise in conducting human research studies investigating nutritional products in relation to health and disease. 

Nathan joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a Research Ireland Centre based at University College Cork as an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellow and is investigating the effects of an exercise intervention on the gut bacteria and mood in individuals with Major Depressive Disorder. Nathan will tell us how his secondment linked in well with his research interests and focus.

Felipe joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a Research Ireland Centre based at University College Cork as an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellow and is investigating Novel Bacteriocins as Future Alternatives to Antibiotics. Felipe spent three-months on secondment at Moorepark Technology Limited. MTL’s core business is the rental of their plant to food companies and public research institutions for the purposes of carrying out commercialisation, product and process development, training, or small scale start-up manufacture. Valentine Turpin joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a Research Ireland Centre based at University College Cork as an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellow to explore the role of gut microbiota in modulating brain barriers in a mouse model of autism spectrum disorder.
