The beach is easily accessed from the Wild Atlantic Discovery Point at Aughris Head, where there is limited parking at The Beach Bar located at the western end of the beach. From the parking area, walk west across the beach to the rocky outcrop at the western end where the fossils are most abundant. WARNING: This is a rocky coastal location with uneven terrain on the rocky outcrop. Please check weather conditions and take care as the rocks become slippery when wet.
Fossil Info
The most abundant fossils in this location are solitary and colonial corals with smaller numbers of brachiopods and crinoids ossicles - appearing both white and a more heavily weather yellow/brown. The brachipods and crinoid ossicles typically present in a bright white colour which contrasts well against the grey limestone.
