Early Career Researcher Day
As part of the ETC on Communication and Diversity in Mathematics Education, we are pleased to offer a dedicated Early Career Researcher Day (24th August 2026). This event provides a supportive space for doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and others at the beginning of their academic careers to share, learn, and connect.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Discuss their research in a constructive environment.
- Engage in discussions on methodology, career development, and publishing in mathematics education.
- Build networks with peers across different contexts.
The day is intended to foster dialogue, collaboration, and a sense of community among early career researchers in the field.
Programme Overview
We are pleased to offer dedicated support for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) through both an online pre-event and a half-day programme held immediately before the main conference.
Online Pre-Event — Monday, 19 January, 17:00–19:00 CET
This session will introduce key aspects of ETC 22 and provide guidance on how to prepare effectively (e.g., developing your submission). Please register for the event via the following link.
Half-Day Programme for Early Career Researchers — Monday, 24 August, 13:30–17:00
To help early career researchers get the most from ETC22, we warmly invite you to join our dedicated half-day ECR programme. The session will provide opportunities to connect with peers, develop aspects of your research practice, and prepare for engaging in the conference community.
The programme will include two workshops:
-
A conference-focused workshop, facilitated by Prof. Marie-Thérèse Farrugia (University of Malta), which will support participants in preparing for their conference participation. Activities may include rehearsing presentations, discussing moderation and discussion practices, and articulating research positioning within the field.
-
A professional development workshop, facilitated by Prof. Jenni Ingram (University of Oxford), focusing on broader aspects of academic development such as publishing strategies, navigating the peer-review process, and methodological development.
The session will also include time for networking with other ECRs, a coffee break, and an optional group dinner to continue conversations in a more informal setting.
Participation in both the online pre-event and the half-day programme is free of charge and does not add to the conference fee.
