PhD in Photonics

Starting Fall 2012, an EEE PhD scholarship is offered in the research area of photonics with applications in sensors and information systems. The selected candidate will work in the World Class Photonics Laboratory at the EEE Dept., UCC, headed by Professor Riza. The scholarship is for 4 years and provides full stipend and tuition coverage.

The successful candidate is expected to have completed (by Oct.1, 2012) a Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) or related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, Engineering Physics) with a high level of performance. Excellent English speaking and writing skills is a MUST. In addition, the candidate is expected to excel in laboratory skills with a solid foundation in engineering design theory. The research work involves using a mix of EEE knowledge from optics and photonics to signal processing and electronics.
