Lee Whitaker

Biography

Lee is a PhD researcher studying the evolution of massive black holes and their role in shaping galaxies. Using cosmological simulations alongside semi-analytic models, they investigate how the growth histories and environments of massive black holes influence their spin, and what spin measurements may be able to reveal about black hole formation and evolution.

Alongside their research, Lee is involved in science outreach and equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives, with a particular interest in making astrophysics, and more broadly STEM, more accessible to underrepresented groups.
