Upper Limb Injection Techniques for General Practice

Indications for joint injections in GP or rheumatology practice include osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, and other conditions causing pain and inflammation. This course looks at the practical aspects of injection, such as patient selection, differential diagnosis, equipment, and potential complications. This course uses high fidelity cadavers to aid in teaching of the relevant lower limb anatomy and assessing the joints with palpation of anatomical landmarks. Demonstration of correct needle angulation and administration of corticosteroid joint and tissue injections. You will utilise a handheld ultrasound to confirm needle placement and improve injection accuracy. This is a unique and valuable opportunity for GPs to refine their skills in a safe, controlled, and anatomically realistic setting and led by an orthopaedic surgeon.
