This course is aimed at improving operator performance and safety to real-life interventional scenarios in ultrasound and fluoroscopic image-guided procedures. The course is performed at the ASSERT’s state-of-the-art medical simulation facility and will run in a simulated Interventional Radiology Suite environment using fresh frozen cadaveric specimens. The use of fresh cadaveric specimens allows for high-fidelity simulated clinical practice. This maximises intervention time for each participant and allows for one-to-one tuition from the expert faculty. Examples of the procedures you will practice include percutaneous ultrasound-guided liver biopsy and abscess drainage. You will also perform fluoroscopic percutaneous lumbar procedures and access a cerebral aneurysm with a thrombectomy flow model.
Learning outcomes:
After doing this course you will:
- Increase your proficiency in percutaneous ultrasound-guided biopsies.
- Gain more confidence in applied surface anatomy.
- Improve your skills in targeted lesion biopsy.
- Gain knowledge in the tips and tricks in interventional radiology practice.
