This hands-on cadaver course will take place in the surgical skills lab and concentrate on accurate removal of breast tumours and axillary clearance. Initially there will be a discussion on the anatomical, physiological, pharmacological and pathological considerations when treating a patient with breast cancer. Diagnostic methods and marking will be discussed and demonstrated. Tumour removal such as local excisions, wider excision and mastectomy will be practiced with axillary clearance. Finally, contemporary management of breast reconstruction will be discussed, and rotation and local flaps will be practiced.
