The care of the elderly is multifaceted and although this course is patient centered in its approach, it will address the challenges doctors have to promptly diagnose, treat and communicate with the patient in carefully designed scenarios. Topics that will be interwoven into the day are themes such as stroke management, tissue viability, complex case management with co-morbidities, dementia and polypharmacy cases, to name a few. Within the safe environment of this course, difficult conversations in elderly patient management such as advanced care and discharge planning will be played out and discussed as a group. It is a great opportunity to demonstrate and share challenging cases with both faculty and participants from around the country.
