Rhinoplasty can be a challenging procedure to excel in, and it is performed for both cosmetic and functional reasons. Cosmetic concerns include addressing a nose that is too large, wide, or has a hump, a bulbous or boxy tip, or is asymmetrical. Functional reasons include a deviated septum, nasal valve collapse, or enlarged turbinates. It can also indicate after injury or due to a congenital abnormality. This cadaver course will take place in ASSERT’s surgical skills lab and will address both open and closed approaches to a rhinoplasty. Expert faculty will share tips on deformity correction techniques, harvesting cartilage, reconstruction and facial considerations. You will practice procedures such as endonasal incisions, external approaches and septoplasty. This will be followed by careful consideration of finer osteotomies, harvesting and applying cartilage to the anterior spine, using L-struts and refining the tip of the nose.
Learning outcomes:
After doing this course you will:
- Increase your proficiency in open and close operative techniques.
- Gain more confidence in determining nasal and facial considerations in planning.
